How to Choose a Rug Size

1. Start with a floor plan....

Choose a furniture layout that you like based on the size and dimensions of your room.

2. Measure for your rug based on the space you would like to fill.

If you are a visual person, a handy tip is applying blue painters tape to outline the area where you may want your rug to go. Remember, the number #1 reason an area rug will look "wonky" in a room is because it's too small for the sitting area. It is always better to go a little bigger than smaller.

3. Measured and the rug you need falls outside of our 16 sizes? No problem!

Making a rug to your exact measurements, shape and design taste is a great solution when you're looking for a rug to fit your space. Here is what you need to do to get your RugThatFits™. You can order any of our area rugs made to your exact measurements. Our delivery time is the same as our standard rugs at 2 to 3 weeks. And, we do not charge "extra" fees just because you want it to your exact speficiations. Call us during business hours at (888) 589-2673 to speak to one of our design team member or if you prefer message us or email us at designteam@rugsthatfit.com to receive custom pricing information on your unique size.

If you are not sure how to best place your furniture on an area rug, here are a few "tried and true" placement layouts that would get the nod of approval from any interior designer as well as help you figure out how much area rug you need to measure for. These are just suggestions, not hard and fast rules. In the end it's your space, so measure based on what you want and feel most comfortable living with. That's why we call it "RugsThatFit".

INDOOR AND OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES

For rugs that will be used with sofas, we recommend adding an extra 6"-10" inches to your measurement for each side (not front or back) of your sofa to acheive a nice balanced look.
